Snow day…

Wednesday turned out ok.  I worked in the morning, but I left at noon and made it home before the really heavy snow started.  In fact, when I left my office the snow had temporarily stopped.  The bus ride home was…interesting.  The driver apparently didn’t notice it was snowing, so he proceeded to drive 60 miles an hour on the New York State Thruway.  I tried to calmly read my book, but once we started making stops I could no longer ignore the terror I was feeling.  We skidded and slid into and out of every bus stop on the route.  When we finally got to my stop, I was out the door before it was even fully open.

It’s a really short walk from the bus stop to my house.  Unfortunately, it’s all uphill.  It’s not a steep hill…just a small incline really.  In good, non-snowy weather, walking up this hill is no problem.  In icy, slushy snow…well that’s a different story.  Especially if you are me and you lack any kind of coordination or balance.  I slipped and fell so many times that I was practically crawling by the time I reached my house.  I was also really exhausted.

J had the girlies out in the yard and I stayed out there and played with them for a while.  Then we went inside, ate lunch and passed out on the couch for a nap.  Later on we watched movies and then poor J had to go out and shovel .

Overall, it was a good snowday…completely disaster free and somewhat relaxing.

This was Sofie's first real snowstorm. She's a big fan.

Sadie refused to come in when we called her. We had to bribe her with cookies.

I passed this guy on my way to work. He's just hanging out in Central Park.

I thought getting to work yesterday was going to be somewhat treacherous, but it was really fine.  They did a really good job of cleaning everything up quickly.

Well, back to work.  The price I’m paying for the 1/2 a snow day is that I’m super busy and totally behind.

Have a great day!
