Gratituesday…

I haven’t done a Gratituesday post in a while and a lot of great things happened this week…so I thought I’d tell you about them…

  1. Someone gave me a very expensive scarf as a gift and I wasn’t crazy about it.  I decided to return it and in exchange I got two cashmere sweaters, a pair of Armani sunglasses and a different scarf that I really like.  Getting something you really love…fabulous!  And getting amazing sunglasses that you’d been looking for forever…even better!
  2. I’ve been wanting to see Wicked for years, but never seemed to be able to find the time to go.  I had a gift certificate to Ticketmaster for the longest time and I finally decided to use it to buy Wicked tickets.  So at seven o’clock tonight my mom, sister-in-law and I will be at the theater.  Finally getting to see a great show…and using a gift certificate to buy the tickets…fabulous!
  3. I make terrible meatballs.  They never have any flavor and are usually the consistency of hockey pucks.  On Sunday, J and I were watching a cooking show and they showed a really simple recipe for meatballs.  I tried it…and made the best meatballs ever.  They were soooo good.  Finally learning to make a good meatball…fabulous!
  4. Something has been going on at work that has been bothering me.  I was objecting to something and I was worried that I was going to be thought of as difficult.  But yesterday one of my coworkers took the same position as me.  Now the powers that be are taking us seriously.  Knowing your coworkers have your back…fabulous!
  5. I told you yesterday how much I hate the mall.  But I was actually pretty productive while I was there.  I had a lot of things just lying around and I managed to get everything returned yesterday.  Returning things I’m never going to wear and getting a credit on my credit card bill…fabulous!
  6. On Saturday, the dogs woke me up really early (4AM) and I couldn’t get back to sleep.  J had an errand to run and left the house about 7AM.  The house was really quiet and I got back in bed to close my eyes for a few minutes.  I wasn’t really expecting to fall asleep, but the next thing I knew it was 11AM.  Taking a four hour nap and waking up completely refreshed…fabulous!
  7. Friday night we ordered dinner from The Cheesecake Factory and when we showed up to pick it up, we found that our order had never been entered.  We had to wait half an hour for our food and we were starving.  To make up for their screw up, they gave us free cheesecake…and two full loaves of their delicious bread, which I ate for breakfast all weekend.  Having an annoying situation turn out ok…fabulous!
  8. I started my Christmas list yesterday and I was drawing a blank for almost everyone.  I went to Etsy at lunch time and I immediately found the perfect gift for my dad.  Finding a great gift for someone…without having to go to the mall…fabulous!
  9. It’s so warm out today that I didn’t even have to wear tights to work.  Being able to walk around with bare legs and a light jacket in the middle of November…fabulous!

    And last but not least…

  10. The sparkly vampires are back.  Breaking Dawn – Part I opens this weekend and I’ll be seeing it on Saturday afternoon.  Finally getting to see the sparkly vampires get married…fabulous!!!

What are you grateful for this week?

Gratituesday…

In honor of Canadian Thanksgiving (which was yesterday) I decided to do a Gratituesday list and share what is making me happy and thankful this week…

  1. Carson Kressley…His dances on Dancing With The Stars this season just make me so happy.  He’s not the best dancer, but he’s clearly having so much fun that I can’t help but have fun just watching him.
  2. My new earrings…I’ve been coveting these earrings from J. Crew and they were sold out online.  I was so sad…but on Saturday I went into a J. Crew store and they had one pair left.  I love when that happens…and getting pretty new jewelry is always fabulous.
  3. My trip…I leave in ten days to visit Allyson in Kentucky.  Can’t wait.  We are going to a UK game and spending a day at the horse races.  There has also been talk of moonshine.  And the best part…Hutch is coming too!  I’m so excited…I can hardly wait.
  4. Ear plugs…My ears have been bothering me for the last week or so…they are irritated from the earplugs I wear to drown out J’s snoring.  But today I did a little research and found a website called Earplugstore.com.  I was able to order a variety pack of earplugs meant to solve the exact problem I’m having.  I hope they arrive soon.  Sleeping through the night and waking up without irritated ears is always nice.
  5. Pinterest…This is my new obsession.  I love it.  I spent the better part of the weekend pinning and searching.  I can’t wait to start all my crafting projects.  Discovering so many new projects and ideas is so much fun!
  6. Wicked…I just bought three tickets…and on November 15th my mom, sister-in-law and I are going to see Wicked.  I’ve been dying to see it for years and I’m so happy I finally bought the tickets.  This also lets me cross another item off my 101 list…which is just fantastic.
  7. Gift cards…I’ve had several sitting in my wallet for a long time.  This weekend I used them up…buying a new dress, my new earrings, my tickets to Wicked and a pair of shoes.  I love being able to go shopping without having to spend any actual money.  And the best part…I still have one left so I get to shop some more!
  8. Puppy love…I was home alone with the dogs last night and they both snuggled up with me when we went to bed.  I got lots of dog love and kisses and affection.  It was all kinds of wonderful.
  9. Groupon…Lately I’ve gotten all sorts of good deals from Groupon.  So I’ve gotten to do and buy things that I really needed…and I still got to save money.  I love it.
  10. Unexpected time…This morning the bus got into a little fender bender when some idiot cut us off.  No one was hurt luckily…but we had to wait for the cops to come and it took forever.  So I got an extra 45 minutes of reading and chatting with my bus friends before I had to come to the office.  Having some extra down time in the morning before what is sure to be a hectic and crazy day is always fabulous.

So tell me…what are you grateful for this week?

On a more positive note…

Yesterday was not a good day.  We had no phones or internet at work, making it very difficult to get anything done.  My boss was being a complete jerk.  I was really tired and cranky.  Overall, just a bad day.  I spent a the entire morning and most of the afternoon bitching about something or another.  I wanted to eat anything sugary just to make myself feel better.

Then I thought about Amy at PBJdreamer.  Amy has this uncanny ability to turn even the crappiest of situations into something positive.  Her Gratituesday posts always make me smile.  So yesterday, I decided to be a little more like Amy and try to see the good and be happy about something…instead of just continuing to complain.  I now give you my very first Gratituesday list…

#10

We had no phones or internet in the office yesterday.  I can’t tell you how many times I picked up the phone and started to dial only to remember I couldn’t.  At first I was frustrated at not being able to get anything done.  Then I realized I had a huge pile of mail and insurance claims and bills and other random stuff to go through.

Being able to tackle the ever-growing piles on my desk without being interrupted by the phone every five minutes…FABULOUS!

#9

Normally, while I eat lunch, I read blogs…or celebrity gossip.  Yesterday I was able to do neither.  I didn’t have a magazine and my Nook decided to stop working at that very moment.  I was facing down a salad without any distractions…until I realized that my co-workers didn’t have anything to do either.

Sitting around with my co-workers, chatting and eating lunch…FABULOUS!

#8

Since there were no phone calls coming in, I didn’t have to worry about my iPod being too loud.  I was able to turn up the volume to a level where it was actually music and not just a hum of background noise.

Being able to listen to Barry Manilow (yes, that’s right…Barry Manilow) tell me how it looks like we made it…FABULOUS!

#7

As I mentioned, my boss was being a jerk yesterday.  I had requested two days off last week, but he decided to take a vacation instead.  He left me alone (the other senior person here is on maternity leave until next week) for the whole week…and it was really busy.  I requested one day off this week and he asked me to wait until my co-worker returns from maternity leave next week…because he doesn’t want to be the only one here.  Well, that just didn’t work for me!

Standing up to my boss and taking the day off on Thursday…FABULOUS!

#6

I decided to make Easter a Jenny Craig-free day.  I made some of my Easter favorites…corn souffle, mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallows, cranberry and apple stuffed pork roast.  It was delicious.  As a special treat, we had gourmet cupcakes from a place near my house.  I was worried what it would do to my diet, but this morning I got a pleasant surprise when I got on the scale.

Eating a delicious dinner and the most amazing raspberry and cherry cupcakes and not gaining a single ounce…FABULOUS!

#5

There are leftover cupcakes.  J had to go to Connecticut last night and he was supposed to take the cupcakes with him.  But he forgot and left them home.  I REALLY wanted one…but I managed to resist temptation.

Putting the leftover cupcakes in the microwave and forgetting they were even there…FABULOUS!

#4

When I was thinner, I had a fabulous wardrobe.  Most of those clothes have been at my mom’s house for a long time.  Now that I’m losing weight, she packed a huge bag of stuff and brought it to my house.  I tried everything on over the weekend and while nothing fits quite yet, I know that it will all fit soon.

Almost getting into my not-yet-skinny-but-skinnier jeans…FABULOUS!

#3

I slept in really late on Saturday, but on Sunday J woke me up at 7AM on Sunday.  He’d gotten up about two hours before and went to watch TV in the den.  But he was bored and wanted company.  I was tempted to just stay in bed for another hour since I didn’t have to get up quite so early, but I gave in and went to hang out with J in the den.

Getting to spend an extra hour laying on the couch with J, watching a movie…FABULOUS!

#2

Part of the reason I dragged myself out of bed is because I got an email from Ally the night before reminding me that even though J sometimes drives me crazy I should be happy that he’s actually here to drive me crazy…as opposed to having him be off at war, like her husband…or worse.

Having a wonderful friend who reminds me of what’s really important in life…FABULOUS!

#1

It’s going to be 80 degrees outside today!  When I woke up this morning it was foggy and drizzling.  But the sun came out and it’s turning into the first truly gorgeous day we’ve had so far this spring.

Being able to go out without tights on…FABULOUS!

And there you have it…ten fabulous things for which I am grateful on this Tuesday.

What are you all grateful for today?
