Day 1…St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital…

It took me a while to decide which organization to highlight on the first day of the 31 Days of Giving.  Ultimately, I decided on one of my favorite charities…St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

St. Jude’s mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseased through research and treatment.  About 7,800 patients visit the hospital each year…and the really amazing this is that no family ever pay a dime to St. Jude.  The $1.8 million daily operating cost is funded through public contributions.

The research done and protocols developed at St. Jude have helped push childhood survival rates from 20% when the hospital opened to 80% today.  The work they are doing is wonderful and important and they wouldn’t be able to do it without help from people like us.

There are so many ways to help St. Jude.  you can make monetary donations.  You can make memorial donations.  You can shop with one of their many retail partners and a portion of your purchase will go to the hospital.  My favorite way to give is to shop in the St. Jude Gift Shop.  They have great gifts every year and their Christmas ornaments are adorable.  All the designs are based on patient artwork and are so cute.  I have several years worth of ornaments and I love them.  This is the one I got this year…

Consider giving to St. Jude this year and helping a family get lifesaving treatment for their child.
