A new 101 list…

The other day Kallay posted a great list…101 things she was thankful for.  As I read it I thought to myself that there was no way I could come up with so many things to be thankful for.  Then my dad got hurt…and I spent a lot of time sitting in the hospital being thankful.  I realized that I did, in fact, have 101 things to be thankful for.  So today…I’m stealing Kallay’s idea and I’m going to list those 101 things.

This year, I’m thankful for…

  1. My dad’s health…it’s a little precarious right now, but he’s alive and for that I’m thankful.
  2. My mom…who is very strong, even though she doesn’t think so.
  3. My brother and sister-in-law…I don’t know what I’d do without them.
  4. My grandfather…who is amazingly kind and generous.
  5. My grandmother…who is no longer with us, but I’m thankful for the years I did get to spend with her.

  7. J…whose amazing calm and logic has kept me from completely falling apart this week.
  8. Sadie and Sofie…who are always happy to see me and who give me more kisses and snuggles than I can handle.
  9. My “in-laws” (J’s family)…who are amazing and wonderful even though we aren’t legally related yet (hint, hint J!)
  10. My extended family…who are always there for me.
  11. Erin…who is my best friend and I don’t know what I’d do without her.

What are you thankful for today?

  1. Hi Shanna,
You might be surprised to know that I am hooked on your blog:) I love reading it and I think you are a funny, interesting and perceptive writer. Your stories make me laugh out loud and or cry. I am so sorry to hear about your Dad and all that you and your family have been going through. My prayers are with you. I am grateful that Erin has such a special friend in you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

  2. I. Love. This! Great list, Shana! I love the blogging community and all that we learn from each other, the bonds we make, and most of all the friendship. I’m so glad to call you a friend. I hope your dad is doing well and recovering from all of his lung problems today. It’s hard, when he can’t get up and walk around, to keep his lungs healthy. They made me do respiratory therapy in the hospital with one of those blow tubes and that helped a little. That’s so frustrating. :(

    Praying for you all!

  3. What a fantastic list (and not just because I’m on it)!
    I love it.
I would second everything on it – but I’ll contain it to #78, #96 and #35. I cna’t have the first 2 just yet, but I have been overdosing on the last one!
    *virtual hug*
