Top Five Tuesday…

Work has been insane this week.   Every question I get an answer to raises two new questions.  Every time a decision gets made and a task is completed, three new tasks spring up.  It’s a short week for me, since I’m going on vacation on Friday…and I feel like I have three weeks worth of work to do in the next three days.  So, as I walked to the office this morning I kept thinking that there were a hundred things that I’d rather be doing today than going to work.

Here are my Top Five Things I’d Rather Do Today…

  1. Lay in bed…when I left the house, J and the dogs were still laying, all snuggled together in bed.  They were nice and warm and cozy.  I, on the other hand, headed out into a day that was dreary and cold and rainy.  The weatherman promised me sun…but so far, no luck.  Bed would definitely be preferable to sitting at my desk…and my pajamas would be preferable to a dress, tights and heels.
  2. Have a day of beauty…my gray hair is seriously out of control.  My eyebrows, likewise.  And I need a mani/pedi like nobody’s business.  I’m about three weeks overdue for all those things…I just haven’t had any time to take care of them.  Nor will I have time to take care of them before I leave for my weekend away.  Thank goodness I’ll have ample opportunity to wear a hat…at least my grays will be covered.
  3. Organize the bathrooms and linen closet…I know that doesn’t sound very exciting, but I’m on a home organization roll.  I started in the kitchen and then moved on to my closet.  The bathrooms and linen closet are next on my list and I’ve been dying to get them done.  I need a good inventory on what toiletries we have and I need to clear space in the linen closet by getting rid of old blankets and towels we don’t use.  I want to keep my momentum up and organizing my house would be much better than being at work.
  4. Go to Barneys…I really want to buy this new perfume that they only carry at Barneys.  It’s two blocks away from my office and, somehow, I never quite seem to make it there.  I’m always busy working…or running to the train.  I really need to move this up on the to-do list.
  5. Read my book…I’m 3/4 of the way through The Year of Living Biblically by AJ Jacobs and I love it.  I can’t wait to finish it and write a post about it.  I just need a couple of hours, curled up on the couch and I’ll be done.  Instead…I’m working.  It’s such a bummer.

So tell me…what are you all doing today?  What would you rather be doing instead?

Comments

  1. I have The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible in my Amazon cart right this second. I just added it on Sunday! Funny that you’re reading it. Looking forward to your review then!

  2. All of these are excellent things to be doing other than stressing over work. I am also having a short week and with only 3 days to do stuff in – I feel overwhelmed. Add to that my wedding this weekend… can we say brain dead?

I would much rather be HOME working on wedding organization, going to get a massage, or even just relaxing in bed. Organizing the linen closet actually sounds like fun… bottle of wine and a trash bag and you’re set, at least to me it sounds like a relaxing evening.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND – and remember PAMPER YOURSELF :) ox

  3. I am also at work.
And its safe to say that I would much rather be preparing for a girl’s weekend away in Kentucky!

  4. Yes to all of these things. I’d SOOOO much rather take my blanket to the park in Hoboken with my book and read on the lawn. It’s such a beautiful fall day, perfect for anything really BUT work. Blech.

Have a great time on your trip!

  5. I’d definitely rather be at home than at work. I fell in love with Guitar Hero again this weekend, thanks to our friend’s daughter, and I could be really happy hanging out at home playing “Slow Ride” over and over. I’d also rather be preparing for our yardsale this weekend and prepping our guest bedroom for our new roommate, who’s moving in in two weeks. My husband seems to be not in the least bit concerned about where all the stuff in that room is going to go, so I’d rather be kicking his ass into high gear :)
