Top Five Tuesday…

The other day I watched High Fidelity.  Have you seen that movie?  It’s great…and John Cusack is in it, which makes it even better.  And the best scene is at the end when Jack Black…well…I don’t want to ruin it if you haven’t seen it yet.  But it’s about a guy who owns a record store and throughout the movie they make several top 5 lists.  For example…top 5 musical crimes perpetrated by Stevie Wonder in the 80s and 90s and top 5 most memorable breakups.  Seriously…it’s great.  Go watch it.

While I was watching the movie I thought…hmmm, maybe I should do a post about top 5 lists.  Then I thought…hmmm, maybe I should do a weekly top 5 list.  And thus…Top Five Tuesday was born.  My plan is to post a new top 5 list each week and I’m open to topic suggestions.

This week’s list…

Top 5 Reasons I’m Glad the New TV Season Has Started…

  1. No more reruns of Wipeout…J loves Wipeout and he has several episodes saved on the DVR.  When there is nothing on, he will put on an episode of Wipeout…one that we’ve, no doubt, seen 10 times already.  I’m sick of Wipeout.  I’m also sick of Swamp Loggers, Ice Road Truckers, American Pickers, House Hunters and This Old House.  Now that there is new TV, we’ll have other options…thank God.
  2. Lots of relationship drama without actually having relationship drama…J and I have had our share of drama in the past, but now we are just a normal, boring couple.  Sometimes I miss the excitement of the drama, but I have no interest in reliving it in real life.  Instead, I can experience it through television.  Will Meredith and Derek get divorced?  Will Castle and Beckett ever get over their issues and just get together already?  Is Violet really going to get on that plane and leave Pete having a heart attack on the floor???  See…all the excitement…but when my show is over I am left with none of the drama.  Perfect.
  3. Carson Kressley will make my life a little more fabulous…Carson is bringing his sparkle to Dancing With The Stars this year and, seriously, I could just watch him dance all night.  He wasn’t the best dancer of the night last night, but he was certainly the most entertaining.  And the most sparkly.  I hope he stays around for a while.
  4. I have something to do on the nights that J is in CT…Over the summer, those nights were really boring and filled with repeats or movies I’ve seen a million times.  I hated having J gone because I had nothing to do.  Now I will have lots of shows to watch and I won’t be bored.
  5. I will finally get to find out who Barney marries…I hope…because the suspense has been killing me all summer.

And a side note…I really had high hopes for Two and a Half Men…but it was terrible.

Are you excited for fall TV?  What is your favorite show?

  1. The Boy and I are SO excited for new TV to start. And I’m even more excited that the Boy will be sporting 2-3 nights a week leaving me to watch the new shows by myself – maybe I’ll even be able to follow a drama this year (he doesn’t do 1 hour shows).
Question – are you actually moved to CT yet? Or are you still living in two houses? How much longer is this going on for? Or did I miss something entirely? Please inform.
I’m excited for the potential of new shows – I think that should be your top 5 post probably in a couple of weeks once they’re all out. I watched Whitney last night – cute, I’ll give it a whirl. And the Will Arnett and Christina Applegate show – possibility of potential. Are there new ones you’re hoping will be decent?
Finally, I agree Two and a Half Men was not good – but I will give them one more episode to get it together. Tricky business, they have to transition it (it can’t be exactly the same can it?) without changing it too much. Tricky tricky tricky.
    That is all. XO

  2. My guess is McDreamy dies or leaves Meredith at the end of the season.

There’s going to be a linkup tomorrow on HIMYM theories after the premiere. Amanda from It’s Blogworthy is hosting, you should post and link!!

  3. I’m working on a post about all the shows I’m looking forward to this fall. There are so many: HIMYM, Cougartown, Modern Family, Raising Hope, Happy Endings, Community, The Office, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Glee. Apparently, I don’t like any television dramas.

And a few all-new shows I’m hoping will be good. I watched the first episode of the Christina Applegate Will Arnett show and it’s good so far. I want to see that sci-fi dinosaur show Terra Nova; and Person of Interest with Ben from LOST and Jesus from Passion of the Christ; and Alcatraz just because it’s a JJ Abrams show; and NBC’s Grimm; and ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

So much TV, so little time.

  4. I love High Fidelity. That’s one of my favorite movies ever. I really enjoyed HIMYM last night and I’m looking forward to the rest of the week and all the new shows. I’m hoping to pick some new shows that make it past one season. I usually fail at that.

  5. So happy fall tv is coming back I too am over reruns!!!

I love High Fidelity – Mike purchased it for me one year for my birthday since he loves it and I had never seen it.. it’s totally in our top 5 date night movies!

  6. Very excited for fall TV–most especially the New Girl (I taped it, but haven’t watched just yet). Then there’s Parenthood, and all my trainwreck housewives… Are you watching this season? (Beverly Hills or NJ; I feel as though you did). But yes. Happy for new tv programs :)
