Random Musings Friday…

I’m a little cranky this morning.  It’s freezing outside.  And it was freezing in the bedroom this morning.  And it was freezing in the bathroom when I got out of the shower.  I’m so sick and tired of being freezing cold all the time!  When the hell is spring going to get here already???  Well, at least the one good thing about the delay of spring is that my allergies haven’t kicked in.  And a day without sneezing and itchy eyes…that’s a great day in my world.

Here’s what’s been happening…

  • Big news…I’m finally on Twitter!  My handle is FumblingNormal, which isn’t super creative, but my two favorite suggestions…Shananagins and Shantastic were both taken.  I also found out that for a brief period of time, Allyson’s Twitter handle was BubblesFriday…which is the BEST. NAME. EVER.  If I ever write a book, that is going to be the name of one of my characters.  Seriously. I’m so sad that she ever changed it.
  • I was just walking down the hall to put my breakfast in the microwave and my co-worker, who was behind me, said “Do you have any idea how skinny you are looking?”  Well…skinny might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I’m beyond thrilled that my weight loss is finally starting to show.  As of Wednesday night, my official weight loss total is…19.4 lbs!!!  While I have many, many more pounds to go before I reach my goal, I’m beyond thrilled with how things are going so far.  I’m less tired, less achy, less uncomfortable than I have been in years.  I’ve also started to be able to wear clothes that didn’t fit before.  Oh…and my jeans have gotten so baggy that when I was running through the rain last weekend, I actually had to hold them up to keep them from falling off!  I never took before pictures because…well, because I wanted no photographic evidence of my fatness…so I have no progress photos to show you.  But maybe this weekend I’ll take a photo of how big my jeans have gotten and post it next week.
  • Yesterday, while I was walking to work, I saw a man walking a little dog.  He stopped by the wall of the Central Park Zoo and picked the dog up.  I wondered what he was doing and as I walked past, I noticed that he was talking to the dog and pointing out the cow and the goats and the horse.  The dog was wagging his tail and looking at all the animals.  It was absolutely adorable and I really wanted to stand there and watch this man, who clearly loved his dog so much.  I didn’t…because I didn’t want to look like some crazy stalker…but I’m so glad I got to see it at all.  It made me happy for the rest of the day.
  • J took his group out yesterday for a post-tax-season lunch.  Normally, he takes them to happy hour, but he really wanted to make it an early night, so he decided lunch was better.  They left the office at 11:30 and headed to the restaurant…a little dive that has the best food and cheap drinks.  At 5:30,  while I sat on the train waiting for him, I got a text message saying that they were still at the restaurant and he’d take a later train.  See…J’s the boss and he pays for this little shindig.  No one ever wants him to leave because when he does, the party is over.  Luckily for his staff, J is easily persuaded to stay for another beer…and another…and another.  He came home at 9:30 and was completely ossified.  In ten years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so drunk.  As we drove to CT last night, I just kept praying that he wouldn’t get sick in the car.  When we arrived, he was asleep and didn’t want to get out of the car.  I was so tempted to leave him there.  In the end I dragged him into the house and deposited him onto the couch…which is where he was when I left this morning.  I’ll bet he’s going to have a massive hangover.

That’s all for this week.  I hope everyone has a very nice holiday!

Also, that story about the man and his dog totally brought a tear to my eye. I love when I see scenes like this unfold in New York. What a beautiful, sweet, tender moment.
