Top o’ the mornin’…er, afternoon…

It’s a busy day today.

The neighborhood has been buzzing since early this morning with preparations for the St. Patrick’s Day parade.  I was out there earlier, trying to catch a glimpse of my cousin as he marched by.  Sadly, I missed him.  But it’s a gorgeous day and it was great people watching.  Normally, I’m not a big fan of the parade…there are always far too many people crowding the streets and the bus ends up being packed with drunken idiots trying to get home.  Not my cup of tea.  However, this year I really enjoyed hanging out down by the parade and watching all the cops march by and listening to the bagpipes.  Everyone seems much less rowdy this year than in years past.  I think everyone is just so excited about the nice weather.

Oh…and there is some good eye candy out today, too.  Irish boys are very cute!  And Irish cops?  Even cuter.

More exciting, though, than parades and cute cops…the NCAA tournament starts today.  I love March Madness.  I love basketball and I’m super competitive and those two things come together nicely this time of year.  I did all my research and chose my brackets this morning (I have three different ones) and I’ve been checking scores every few minutes since the first game started.

Between all my parade watching and score checking and blog writing, I haven’t gotten much else done so far.  I guess I should tackle this pile of work that’s sitting here.

For now, I will leave you with my two favorite Irish blessings…

May those who love us love us.
And those that don’t love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn’t turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we’ll know them by their limping

May you never lie, steal, cheat or drink.
But if you must lie, lie in each other’s arms.
If you must steal, steal kisses.
If you must cheat, cheat death.
And if you must drink, drink with us, your friends.

  1. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!! I’m so jealous you live in a town and work close to a parade route. I love a great parade! I’m going to drink a few green beers for dinner tonight. Healthy, nope not at all. But it’s St. Patrick’s Day so when in Wanna-be Ireland. 😉

  2. I love the second Irish blessing in particular :)

Hope you were able to escape the rowdy St. Patrick’s Day revelers on your commute home last night. I saw a few, but I agree: they weren’t that bad this year. I went to a bar in midtown where a bagpiper did a few rounds around the bar every hour or so, playing the pipes. It seemed kind of random, but it was fun and very celebratory (even though my poor gf experienced a panic attack each time. I guess she’s not a fan of the bagpipes? Also, aren’t they Scottish? I digress).

WOOHOO for sexy Irish cops 😉 Lots of very nice eye candy yesterday.

  3. I am really sad that my St. Patty’s Day consisted of work, work, more work, and some exercise…finished off with some shrimp. But UK won so there’s that. I vow that someday I will go to a St. Patrick’s Day Parade. I had forgotten until yesterday afternoon that Savannah turns their river green. That would have been cool. I’m heading over on Sunday so maybe there will be a little residual green on the banks.

And now I leave you with my toast…
Here’s to the men that we love
Here’s to the men that love us
But the men that we love aren’t the men that love us
So eff the men and here’s to us.

Cheers, love and Happy Red Wine/Champagne Friday!
