How I spent my weekend…

I decided to make my already long weekend just a little bit longer, so I took yesterday off too.  I spent the entire time up in CT, putting the house together and relaxing.  I took some pictures so you can feel like you were there with me…

First, I tackled the pantry, which looked like this…

Aren't the crooked shelves awesome?

And now looks like this…

Well, actually…it looks like this…

Please take note of all the really healthy food...

I also replaced the door handles, which were these…

And are now these…

Then I moved on to the other side of the room, where the kitchen table is.  The windows originally looked like this…

Half the slats were missing and they were covered in some kind of food that would not come off.

But since it’s no longer 1986 and vertical blinds are no longer in style, now they look like this…

And this…

I ordered a tie-back for this door, but I haven't gotten it yet.

I think it’s a vast improvement.

There was also much doggie exercise.  Here are a few action shots…

They were much happier about the snow than I was.  All that exercise made them really tired, so we also did a lot of this…

Sure…my feet were hanging off the side of the couch while the dogs made themselves comfortable…spoiled dogs!

All in all, a very relaxing long weekend.  Especially since J was at work and I was home alone!

Up next on the project list…I’m going to re-finish my kitchen table and chairs…here are the before pics…

The white paint was done 10 years ago and was a bad decision...

As were the purple cushions.

Also, the leaf wasn't in the table when I painted it white...and I never got around to getting it painted!

It’s such a nice set, but it’s not in the best shape.  I plan to strip and re-stain the top and repaint the chairs a nicer color.  I’m thinking cream with a brown cushion.  Stay tuned for the after photos…

  1. I am a little sad the redonkulous amount of snow that you all have right now. And also a little glad that I don’t have any of that and I actually thought about complaining about it not quite reaching 70 today.

And the shelves are FANTASTIC. Is that like a contact paper that you covered them in? I love the color. And I think I’m a little creepily obsessed with the crystal knobs. I tried to put the same style on a dresser in the guest room and it was a disaster, so I’m just going to live vicariously through you. And maybe stare at them a long time when I’m up. I think the brown and cream would be really gorgeous. Y’know…I really love to shop for fabric. *Ahem* I’m just sayin’….

Nice job, lady!! Look how productive you are when J goes to work. Take a note, J.

  2. You did a great job with everything, Shana! Your pantry is awesome (sigh. Really makes me wish I had more storage space in my apartment). I can’t wait to see what you do with the table/chairs and good for you for taking an extra day to get things accomplished :) Be proud of all your hard work!

  3. It looks like you are making a good amount of progress. I am excited to see what the table looks like when you are done.

  4. You are making great progress, and it looks great!
You know…when you’re done…I know of another place that is need of some renos…just sayin’…

  5. I love the curtains! The light they let though is beautiful!

  6. The house is looking great! Long weekends are the best!
