A sickly timeline…

12:30PM yesterday:  I left the office because I wasn’t feeling well.

12:55PM:  I got on the train with a ridiculous headache…probably brought on by all my coughing.

1:44PM:  Arrived home.

1:46PM: Got into my pajamas and got in bed.

1:47PM – 4:30PM:  Slept.

4:30PM:  J got home with a pizza, which I got up to eat…it was the first food I’d eaten all day.  It was very delicious.

5:30PM – 8:00PM:  Watched home improvement shows on the couch and coughed…a lot.

8:00PM:  Got into bed

8:00PM – 10:00PM:  Tossed and turned and coughed…a lot.

10:00PM – 12:00AM:  Finally slept.

12:00AM:  Woke up hungry…went downstairs and had more pizza.

12:30AM:  Heard J say “Shan, can you come here…and bring me that drill”.  Knew nothing good could come of that sentence but went anyway.

12:30AM – 1:00AM:  Watched J try to fix the ice maker, which was clicking.  More accurately, I watched him take the ice maker out of the freezer, breaking a screw in the process.  Also, I watched him make a mess on the floor that I was too tired to clean.

1:00AM – 2:30AM:  Watched How I Met Your Mother and Castle with J while laying on the couch.  Coughed…a lot.

2:30AM – 4:00AM:  Laid in the recliner in the bedroom and watched several episodes of House Of Bryan on HGTV or DIY or one of those channels.  Coughed some more.

4:00AM – 6:00AM:  Finally slept.

6:00AM:  Woke up coughing.  Finally admitted to J that the cough is beating me and agreed to stay home from work and go to the doctor.

6:00AM – Present (about 10AM):  Coughing and waiting for my doctor’s appointment.

This was almost an exact repeat of the night before…except with the addition of the ice maker situation.  I freaking hate being sick.  I hate coughing.  I hate being so exhausted that I can’t function and yet, I can’t sleep.  I’m really hoping the doctor can give me some magic elixir that will just fix me right up.  A girl can hope, right?

The only good thing to come out of this…late night TV is hilarious without meaning to be.  Stay tuned for tomorrow when I pass along all the things I learned by watching TV until 4AM…

Comments

  1. Codeine. Codeine is the magic elixir of which you speak. Feel better soon!

  2. I don’t know if you can take codeine, but the only thing that stops my cough enough to let me sleep is Tylenol 3…
    Feel better, my friend!

  3. OOH I hate being sick. I think it was a great idea to take off the day from work. Just watch tv and eat soup. That’s what usually makes me feel better. How I Met Your Mother got crazy last night.

  4. I agree with the above suggestion of strong narcotics. Just don’t let J draw a mustache on you in your passed out sleep. And you may want to ask your mom to come over and check on the dogs. I really hope you start feeling better. I also really hope you don’t give it to J because as bad as you feel now, I do not wish you an encounter with the ManCold. May your prescriptions be plenty and your nights be sleep-filled!! xoxo

  5. I can 2nd the codeine! I was given a codeine cough syrup the last time I had an awful cough that caused me not to be able to sleep. That along with cough drops and propping myself up in bed is the only way I was able to get any sleep.

I hope you feel better soon!

  6. Awwww, you poor thing :( Hope you feel better soon, Shana! So many nasties going around this time of year… best that you stay home as long as is needed and kick whatever you have out of your system!

(Hope the doctor gives you a sick hook-up!).

  7. Boo! Boo being sick. The Boy is sick right now too – it’s pretty much the most pathetic thing you’ve ever seen. He rarely gets sick so when he does he is so sad and frustrated that he’s been taken down by the common cold. He however refuses to go to the doctor. If you do get some magic elixer perhaps you could ship half of it my way. I’ll mix it into his ginger ale and trick him like I would if he was 4!
    Hope you feel better!

  8. Coedine!!! I so hope they give you coedine!! Or maybe a hot toddy? Whiskey honey and lemon, a couple/three times and you’ll at least sleep, right? Thanks for your comment over at my place!
