Random Musings Friday…

I’m starving.  I woke up starving, which I attribute to the fact that we ate Chinese food last night.  I think being this hungry is affecting my ability to think.  I ended up missing the bus this morning because I was la-di-da-ing around the house as though I had no place to go.  I actually sat down and started watching TV while I was brushing my teeth.  J was all “What the hell are you doing…aren’t you going to be late?” and I finally snapped out of it.  It was too late though, so I had to sit at the bus stop for 25 minutes, waiting for the next bus and listening to my stomach growl.

So here I am…late to work and really hungry.  Luckily, I took a lot of notes this week, so my slow mental state should not affect the quality of this week’s random musings…

  • The other day I was at the McDonald’s drive-through (which is something I’ve been doing far too much of lately, but that’s an entirely different topic) and, while I was waiting for me food, a moving truck pulled up.  Two guys got out of the front and walked around to the back to open the door.  Out came like 12 people.  It was like the clown car at the circus.  I decided that the story was that the guys up front were moving and the people in back were their friends who were helping.  Moving being a strenuous activity, everyone was hungry, so they decided to get some lunch.  Instead of taking separate cars they just all piled in the moving truck.  At least I hope that’s the story and there was something more nefarious going on.  But I’m assuming that if you were doing something illegal that involved the transport of 12 people in the back of a moving truck, you probably wouldn’t take them for lunch at McDonald’s.  Just saying.
  • I am a little on the chubby side these days and, as such, I’m very careful about what I wear.  I don’t wear anything too tight or too short.  No one wants to see my cellulite and there is nothing attractive about jeans that look like they are going to split at the seems if you sit down.  Plus…how is it comfortable to wear such tight pants?  I don’t get it.  There was a woman on the subway last night whose pants were so tight I could see her ovaries.  Seriously…it was not good.  So a public service announcement…just because you can squeeze into those pants, it doesn’t mean you should.  Do your organs a favor and just get a bigger size.
  • As much as I was bitching about the problems that the UN was causing this week, there are certain benefits to all this increased security.  Namely…hot cops everywhere.  Everywhere.  I have a thing for cops…always have.  I don’t know if it’s the uniform or the authority or just that cops tend to be better looking than the rest of the population.  Either way, there are tons of cuties all over the place.  Let me tell you…getting to chat up a hot cop makes being stuck in a frozen zone much more tolerable.
  • All week J has been taking the early train home…you know, because he’s a slacker…so I’ve been taking the later train by myself.  Without J to sit with, I’m subjected to sitting with strangers, which I hate.    This guy that I’d never seen before has been sitting near me all week…and man, does he have bad breath.  It’s vile.  The first day he sat in the seat across from me and I think I flinched when the smell hit me.  I’m sad to say that it’s gotten progressively worse as the week has gone on.  The second day he sat behind me, but spent the whole time talking on the phone and sending his nasty breath up towards me.  The third day, he was across the aisle and fell asleep with his mouth open…which made the whole train car smell.  That day, I actually got up and changed seats because it was so gross.  Yesterday he sat next to me again, but mercifully, kept his mouth closed the whole time.  Today, I’m taking the bus.

That’s all I have for this week.  Mostly because my breakfast is here and I’m dying to go eat it.

This evening I’m going to get to fulfill another 101 item…my SIL and I are taking a baking class at the Institute of Culinary Education.  I can’t wait.  It’s the first of three classes on the techniques of cake baking.  I will be sure to post some photos on Monday.

 Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

  1. The comment about jeans being so tight you could see her ovaries made me pee a little! Too funny!!!!

I’ve seen moving trucks rented to go to the Preakness Races in Maryland. Seriously friends would rent a moving truck, pile in and drive there. From my area it’s an hour drive!!! I would probably puke all over everyone from motion sickness back there and heat!!!

Have a great weekend girl I always look forward to your randoms!!! ox

  2. Good post. I like a man in uniform also!

  3. LMAO!! You are awesome with the hot cops thing. And SOOO RIGHT! I actually work next to a firehouse, and uhm, sometimes I go and loiter around outside in the hopes of catching one as he’s sliding down a pole (this actually wouldn’t really happen anyway, but in my dreams…). Sometimes I hope I get stopped for looking menacing as I’m getting on the Path train, but that hasn’t happened yet.

That’s awesome you were able to take a class in baking! That sounds like so much fun :)

And ewwwwwwwww to the guy with stinky breath. You should just offer around mints one day and see if he accepts one.
