I’ve finally done it…a 101 in 1001 list. I’ve been wanting to start one for a while now, but I’m a procrastinator. Also…it’s hard to come up with 101 things to put on the list! It took me about eight months to decide to do it and then another two weeks to actually compile the list.
If you aren’t familiar with the concept here’s the deal…
The Challenge:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on your part).
Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple challenges such as New Year’s resolutions or a ‘Bucket List’. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips, study semesters, or outdoor activities.

There you have it. I am determined to do every last item on the list. I have a feeling that some are going to be really hard for me…like #40 and #60 (man I hate those!). But I’m going to finish it. I will update you guys whenever I finish an item and I think there will be a few good stories that come out of it…because #11 and #92 have disaster written all over them.

What a great idea – but I don’t know how you managed to come up with this list in only 2 weeks!
I will volunteer for #70 – If I haven’t been back to NY by May 30/13, then what the hell am I doing with my life!
But if you haven’t completed #89 by the time I visit, I don’t know what we will have to talk about…
Good luck with your list, Shana, I can’t wait to hear about each of your 101 adventures!
Good luck with this, Shan! I love your list. I’ve been debating doing one myself, but I feel like I’m not being creative enough when I try to write things down.
Congrats on getting your list together! I’m slowly but surely working on mine. Just remember, 1001 is a lot of days but they tick by fast!
for a second, i saw the “i’ve finally done it” and thought you accomplished your list and i almost died. because that seems like a tough task. but i trust you will do it.
a few comments: i have never had a bikini wax and never will. sorry. too scared. a razor does the job and it is not as ouchy.
also, i highly recommend the klean kanteen 64 oz water thing-a-ma-jig. it makes me certain i drink all my water.
and in response to your comment on my blog, in addition to best behavior- i recommend wearing make up everyday. i mean, maybe you already do that. but i don’t. i am lazy. so one of the first things i said after the proposal was “i don’t even look good tonight!”.
That is a great list. I would like to make one too. But I would probably fail at most of the stuff. I’m definitely in to creating a signature cupcake.
You have to complete it all by my 32 birthday. So on May 30, 2013 we should celebrate together!
I had someone do #2 for me before and it made me feel so warm and fuzzy. I have always wanted to do it in return to someone but haven’t. I should get on that.
Shana this is such a great list! I’m so excited that I could inspire such brilliance and also a little disappointed I didn’t see your list before mine because these are AWESOME!
#60 isn’t that bad, #57 is essential and you won’t go back to a poor fit ever again, and I’m starting #30 tonight! Do you have the iPod App? Oh man, I’m NOT a runner but my sister thinks it will be “fun” and the app had me at couch – so I’ll give it a shot.
Off to poke around some more and to subscribe so I don’t miss any of your 101 things!
XOXO
PS. Kindly be expecting some blog love from my blog tomorrow – you rock!
[...] officially inspired Shana over at Fumbling Towards Normalcy to write her own 101 in 1001 list, which means I’ve met another of my goals to do just that [...]
Wow, what a great list, Shana! I LOVE #36. As someone who is constantly attracted to bright, shiny objects I should really make this a goal myself. I wish you all the best as you check off all items on your list
And I love that you have “conquer a fear” on your list–I feel it’s important sometimes that we step outside of our comfort zones a bit. I might have to take your lead on that one!
And if you ever feel like grabbing a cosmo, hit me up
I was talking to J about you last night (He mentioned Phish and I mentioned you…) and I was thinking the same thing. We definitely have to get together for drinks. I will be emailing you about this shortly.
That would be great
Let me know when you have a free night and we’ll definitely work something out!!
I’m working on my list as we speak! and i’m stealing some of your ideas… hope u don’t mind! I’m really excited about it! You should totally watch Glee and Arrested Development, I love those shows! Good luck with your list!
XOXO
Steal away. Some of mine are stolen also. Good luck…can’t wait to read your list.
Holy crap – you’re going to be busy! And possibly broke. But it sounds like a lot of fun. Good luck with your list.
This is awesome! I have been wanting to do the same but have been putting off making the actual list!
For the record, I’m really happy to see you put that you needed to find out your blood type first, and then donate, I feel better because honestly I have no clue what my blood type is!!! And I”m 34!!!!
oxoxo GOOD LUCK I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT ALL YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH!
