A quickie…

Saturday night I went to dinner with my brother, sister-in-law and parents.  After dinner I went back to my brother’s house.  We were sitting around discussing my SIL’s job prospects…she’s a teacher, but she’s having a really hard time finding a teaching job.  Her most recent gig was as a manager at Nordstrom.  Apparently there is a major shortage of teaching jobs in NJ.  So she’s going to be a substitute for now and cross her fingers that something permanent comes along.

Anyway, she was telling me why she chose one school district over another and my normally brilliant and very articulate SIL’s explanation included the following sentence:  “Wayne has a lot more elementary schools so I thought my chances of finding a position there would be a lot more better.”

My brother immediately looked at me and, with a straight face, said, “That’s my wife…she’s a teacher.”

The two of us cracked up.  SIL hit my brother with the magazine she was holding.  She did laugh eventually.  It has now become our joke and I’m sure we will hang on to this one for quite some time.

Happy Monday!!!

  1. Ooohh, ouch. What about using the word “was” when it should be “were”? I have a lot of people in my life who do this. I need to listen to some of M’s teachers, though. Interesting.

  2. She’s actually really smart. It was totally an accident.

The whole thing was really funny!
